Simon says Adam and Danny

Simon Cowell by vegasgirlnyny.

“I would put my money on Adam and Danny  It is going to be Adam and somebody,” judge Simon Cowell told ET at a press conference for his NBC series, “America’s Got Talent,” premiering Tuesday, June 24 at 9 p.m. “I would like to see Adam and Danny because I think they are the best two singers, and at the end of the day that is what should happen.” This season saw the inception of a fourth judge Kara DioGuardi to the “American Idol” panel and Simon Cowell says, “I like Kara. The more I get to know her, the more I like her. You can’t make the same show forever. You have got to make changes because people will get bored. So anything that promotes change, I will push for.” Kara, who has written songs for past “American Idol” winners, including Kelly Clarkson, is in the running as the writer of the single that this season’s winner will first record, but Simon says it is not a sure thing. “She is certainly in the right place, but it has got to be a good song,” he points out. “We wouldn’t guarantee it just because it is her, but she is a great songwriter.” Simon only has one more year on his “American Idol” contract and he is seriously thinking of leaving to work on other TV projects. So ET asked, “Is it a done deal, or can FOX make him an offer that he can’t refuse?” “Maybe I did speak a little too openly in the beginning. I hinted at leaving and then people started asking me questions. If you asked FOX, they would say the same thing. We always said there would be a finite time,” he tells ET. “I have had a good eight years. We never thought we would get beyond one season. I can honestly say it is the best eight years of my life, but you get to a point where you go, ‘Maybe it is time for a change.’ It has got nothing to do with the relationship with FOX, because we get along brilliantly. We haven’t even sat down [to negotiate]. I may be premature. They may say, ‘We don’t want you.’” “American Idol” returns Tuesday, April 28 at 8 p.m. on FOX, when the Top Five sing songs made famous by the Rat Pack.

Richard Monroe Jr. claims the rapper, Snoop Dogg whose real name is Calvin Broadus, hit him with a brass knuckle microphone after he jumped onstage and put his hand on the performer’s shoulder. Snoop Dogg sat a few feet away as Monroe described waking up naked, robbed, and in a pool of blood after the beatdown by other performers and the rapper’s security detail. A videotape of the incident that occurred at the White River Amphitheater near Seattle was also shown to jurors Friday. Snoop Dogg’s attorneys said the video doesn’t show the blow to the back of the head that Monroe claims the rapper delivered, nor evidence that the rapper should be forced to pay any damages.

Sanjaya Superstar by jmtimages.

The former “American Idol” contestant Sanjaya Malakar says he is looking forward to the time he will spend in the jungles of Costa Rica, where the series NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” premiering June 1 will film, because he will use the time to work on music for his upcoming album. “We get to take one luxury item,”  “I am going to take my guitar.” Sanjaya Malakar calls the music for his album “world pop fusion.” He adds, “I start most of my songs with some kind of world sound. From there I bring in fusion, like maybe a funk bass, or rock, and cohesively mix that in with the world sound, and then my voice is pop/R&B. I put that on top and fuse them together.” The “Idol” contestant, famous for his varied hairdos on the show, isn’t sure what he will be doing hair wise for “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” maybe dreds, but he credits “Idol” with giving him the opportunity. “It has given me the opportunity to pursue something I wanted to do all my life. That is priceless,”  says Sanjaya Malakar . As for Simon Cowell being so critical because I wouldn’t have been able to learn from what I did and make it as far as I did on the show without the criticism.”

Ashton Kutcher 1Million Twitts

Ode to Twitter: words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, they slither wildly as they slip away across the universe by Thomas Hawk.

Ashton Kutcher had long trailed CNN, but he staged a rally in recent days that captured the attention of the Web. After his come from behind win, Ashton Kutcher celebrated by tweeting “Victory is ours!” and webcasting a video live on ustream.tv. At the same time, Oprah Winfrey made her entry to Twitter, joining the site and holding a Twitter special on her show Friday with Kutcher as a guest. She gained 100,000 followers in less than a day. Ashton Kutcher, CNN and Winfrey pledged to mark the occasion by purchasing mosquito bed nets to combat malaria. Ashton Kutcher donated $100,000 to the Malaria No More Fund, the charity said Friday. Though celebrities have become commonplace on Twitter where people “follow” each other’s updates of 140 characters or less Winfrey’s entry was sure to cause ripples. The talk show host was welcomed onto the site with messages from George Stephanopoulos, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon and Shaquille O’Neal.

Matt Giraud Saved on ‘Idol’

Simon Cowell and company finally invoked their Judges Save on “American Idol” Wednesday night and, in the process, rescued Matt Giraud from elimination. Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds also were in the bottom three, but the Michigan native had received the fewest number of viewer votes. After Matt sang another rendition of “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman” by Bryan Adams, Simon proclaimed good news: the judges had decided to use their one time only Save and call him back to the contest. But the Brit then shared two bits of bad news: The last minute reprieve ensures that two contestants will be eliminated next week. And worse, next week’s theme is disco. The 23 year old pianist from Kalamazoo initially wowed the judges during Hollywood Week with some Ray Charles inspired singing from behind the keyboard. But in the more recent weeks, Matt had disappointed them with his song choices and his ongoing struggle to settle upon a consistent vocal style. In fact, after hearing his eleventh hour performance Wednesday night, Simon declared that Matt “didn’t really have any chance of winning the competition.” Even so, spurred on by Kara and Paula, he decided to give Matt the ultimate reprieve. Was Matt worth saving? Will he end up being eliminated next week anyway? We shall see. But if that ends up being the case, was all this hullabaloo about this Season 8 tweak really worth the fuss? That’s for you to discuss and figure out.

Shia LeBeouf Third Surgery

Shia Lebeouf by ***Male_Celeb_Pics***.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shia LeBeouf says his hand may never heal entirely. The 22 year old says he only expects to get “about 80 something percent” of his left hand’s pre accident abilities. Shia LaBeouf plans to have his third surgery soon, saying, “My middle finger is still crooked as a f—ing noodle, so they’ve gotta straighten it out and put a screw in it.” The star tells EW he will be able to make a fist again with his left hand, but adds, “There’s a knuckle I’ll never be able to move again, but that’s probably the only permanent damage, other than the scarring.” He says the first voice he heard after his initial surgery was that of Harrison Ford, his ” Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal skull” costar. “Harrison  called me on the phone and said, ‘Hey, are you okay?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m good.’ He said, ‘Well, then you need to get back to work.’ I said, ‘Are you serious?’ He said, ‘That’s the way this cookie crumbles.’ So I went back to work. The show doesn’t stop for anybody.” Shia LaBeouf’s injuries didn’t stop there. He also tells EW about injuries he sustained on the set of the highly anticipated sequel, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” “This movie was the most physical thing I’ve ever had to do, and I had to do it with a broken hand,” Shia LaBeouf says. “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.  Aside from my hand, I also got 25 stitches making this movie, in various parts of my body stuff that had nothing to do with my hand.”  “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” hits theaters on June 24.

Series on Navy Pirate Hunters

United States Navy by crosstrippin.

Two crews for 44 Blue Productions hope to be on board Navy vessels patrolling in the pirate infested waters off the coast of Africa within two weeks. The company is aiming to have a series ready to put on the air by September, said Rasha Drachkovitch, 44 Blue’s president and founder. He’d been talking to the Navy about the idea for three months, but it was finished late last week while the standoff with pirates who had taken Capt. Richard Phillips hostage was going on. “We had no idea if last week’s events would actually kill the deal or seal the deal,” said Sharon Levy, the Spike TV channel’s senior vice president for original series. Drachkovitch said he thought the Navy would put the project on hold, yet instead the Phillips incident seemed to accelerate things. Commander Robert K. Anderson, Navy spokesman on the deal, said the agreement had essentially been made before the U.S. ship was attacked. Spike has been looking for a companion piece to one of its most popular series, “DEA,” which follows federal drug enforcers making their rounds. 44 Blue, which makes action oriented series like “Lockup” for MSNBC and “LA Gang Unit” for A&E, was the first of several producers who had contacted the Navy as reports of piracy began to surface. Following the work of Navy personnel on this mission is the sort of action Spike craves, Levy said. The cable channel targets young male viewers aged 18 to 34, potentially making “Pirate Hunters: USN” a strong recruiting tool for the Navy. “That’s the Spike demographic and (recruiting) is a factor,” Anderson said. “We also have a responsibility to inform the American public about what we are doing.” Spike will have access to dozens of Navy cameras along with its own for making the series, Drachkovitch said. Like similar reality series, it’s his job to find the characters and stories to focus upon. It’s unclear what kind of access the production crew would have to confrontations similar to what happened with Phillips. It depends upon what the commanding officer is comfortable with, Anderson said. “I’m sure if something like this happens, we’ll be at arm’s length until something like this is resolved,” Drachkovitch said. “But we hope to be able to get as good a seat as anybody else.”
