Prince Harry Worst in Class?

Prince Harry by UnkleAlbert.

Prince Harry’s team, named after the charity, proceeded to defeat the opposing Black Watch team 6-5. Harry assisted on the winning goal in the last seconds, drawing the biggest cheer of the afternoon. Both teams included prominent polo stars like Argentine Nacho Figueras, also a Ralph Lauren model, who played for Black Watch. It was the second and final day of Prince Harry’s first official visit to the United States, which began with a sober visit Friday to the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. On Saturday morning, the Prince Harry toured Harlem’s Children Zone, a community organization that offers families social and educational services. He and Prince Seeiso chatted with students working preparing for a Regents Exam. “Who’s the best pupil?” Prince Harry asked the ninth graders. “I was always the worst!” Prince Harry, the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, is third in line to the British throne, after his father and older brother, William. He’s been dubbed the “party prince,” and his New York trip seemed designed partly to counter that image with a focus on his charity work. Prince Seeiso is from Lesotho.

“American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi has set the record straight on Adam Lambert’s buzzed about sexuality: He’s gay.”I don’t think that Adam Lambert was ever in the closet” she says in a taped interview airing Friday on ABC’s “The View.”"I think he was always openly out.” Walters then asked again if Lambert who has never publicly said he’s gay.”was always openly out.” “I think he was,” DioGuardi replies. “I mean, from what I’ve seen,I do. I never thought he wasn’t.” Adam Lambert has so far skirted questions about his sexuality Asked by Barbara Walters whether Adam Lambert’s perceived sexuality may have influenced “Idol” voters, Kari DioGuardi says, “Well, first of all, I hope not because we should be judging on talent and viability in the music industry and they both had that.” “I know who I am,” Adam Lambert recently told Entertainment Weekly.”I’m an honest guy, and I’m just going to keep on singing,” added the 27 year old San Diego native, who has appeared on websites dressed in drag. Simon Cowell previously told TV Guide that “Idol” has “never had an issue” with Adam Lambert’s sexuality and called it a “huge step forward” but never revealed if Adam Lambert’s out.

T.I. y kingdomm.

The 28 year old rapper, whose real name is Clifford J. Harris Jr., performed for a packed audience Sunday night in Atlanta’s Philips Arena less than two days before he is to begin serving the sentence of a year and a day. “I’m going to stand up tall, head up high,” he said. “Thank you for all of your support.” Many in the packed crowd of about 16,000 people held up encouraging signs in Atlanta, like one reading “T.I. We Will Miss U!” He must report by noon Tuesday to the Federal Correction Institution at Forrest City, Ark. He was arrested after prosecutors said he tried to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers from undercover federal agents in 2007. During the concert, T.I. said he hoped that everyone learned from his mistakes. He brought his five children on stage, often holding one of them while he performed “No Matter What” a single off the almost double platinum album “Paper Trail.” T.I., who won a Grammy for “Swagga Like Us,” also performed all his hits from “What You Know” to “Bring ‘Em Out” to his recent chart opping singles “What Ever You Like” and “Live Your Life.” Teenage rapper Soulja Boy also joined him on stage. “What I need y’all to do is pray for me while I’m gone,” he said. “I’ll see y’all in 366 days.”

In addition to the group’s contributions to the new “Transformers” film, some of its members have solo projects in the works. As for the new Linkin Park album, it likely will come out in 2010, according to co frontman Mike Shinoda. “It’s moving,” Shinoda told Billboard.com. “I feel like we’ve been writing a lot. I’d say we’ve got about half the music done, though I shouldn’t say halfway, because who knows how long the next batch of songs will take.”  In part as a result of the band members’ side projects. Singer Chester Bennington’s upcoming solo album, “Dead by Sunrise” due out this fall ”is much more of a rock album,” Shinoda said, and it could take  Linkin Park in new directions. At the same time, Shinoda’s rap side project, Fort Minor is likely to influence the group’s new material. He acknowledged that rap, which did not play a major role on “Minutes to Midnight,” might be more prominent this time out. “I think I have some of the Fort Minor energy in me that wants to come out, so you’ll probably hear more rapping on it,” Shinoda said. “I don’t know if it’ll be a little or a lot, but I know I’ve been sitting down writing a lot of verses, so there’s a better chance of those making it on the record.” “It’s not going to be ‘Hybrid Theory,’” Shinoda said of the work in progress. “It’s not going to be ‘Minutes to Midnight.’ And if we do it right, it’ll have a cutting edge sound that defines itself as an individual record separate from anything else that’s out there.” For now, however, Linkin Park has given its fans “New Divide,” the theme song for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” As confirmed fans of the toy and cartoon franchise, the group “created a song that we felt fit the spirit of the movie and the characters and also obviously stayed true to the spirit of the band,” Shinoda said.

Heath Ledger Last Film

THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS by Po Li.

As Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, the filmmaker said Heath Ledger almost co directed the film. “Heath Ledger was enjoying himself so much, and he was ad-libbing a lot, which I don’t normally allow but Heath was just brilliant at it, and he got everybody else going,” Gilliam said. “Everybody was just energized by Heath. He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy. “That just passed on to everyone else. Everyone’s part grew because they were full of Heath’s energy,” Gilliam said. “What I thought was interesting was to watch people filling the void that Heath Ledger left. Everybody was just growing to make sure that there was no void left in the space that Heath had left us.” The movie”The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” closes with the dedication: “A film from Heath Ledger and friends.” Ledger’s death by an accidental prescription drug overdose on Jan. 22, 2008, left Gilliam with some of the biggest hurdles he has faced in a career filled with tough breaks.  Gilliam said that, when Ledger died with only about half of his performance for “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” filmed, his first thought was to scrap the film. “Fortunately, I was surrounded by really good people who insisted that I couldn’t be such a lazy bastard and that we had to go out and find a way of finishing the film for Heath,” Gilliam said. His solution was to cast Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell to play incarnations of Ledger during otherworldly portions of the fantasy film.

Wal Mart Bans Green Day CD

Billie Joe Armstrong says Wal Mart the giant superstore chain refused to stock its latest CD, “21st Century Breakdown,” because Wal Mart wanted the album edited for language and content, and they refused. “Wal Mart’s become the biggest retail outlet in the country, but they won’t carry our record because they wanted us to censor it,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in a recent interview. While Wal Mart sells CDs from acts known for raunchy content, including Eminem’s latest, they offer customers the “clean” version of those CDs, which are edited for content that may be objectionable. But in Billie Joe Armstrong’s view, “There’s nothing dirty about our record.” “They want artists to censor their records in order to be carried in there,” Billie Joe Armstrong said. “We just said no. We’ve never done it before. You feel like you’re in 1953 or something.”

The opening night at the 02 Arena had been set for July 8 but will be moved back to July 13, promoters said. In addition, tour scheduled for July 10, July 12 and July 14 will instead be held in March 2010. The delays are likely to fuel speculation that Michael Jackson is suffering from health ailments that may curtail his comeback bid. Kenny Ortega, Michael Jackson’s collaborator, said the change is needed to deliver a flawless production. “We apologize to all disappointed Michael Jackson fans and remain extremely dedicated and focused on creating an exceptional live music experience,” he said. Promoters said anyone who chooses not to attend the rescheduled tour shows will be entitled to a full refund. Michael Jackson’s 50 shows are scheduled to kick off in July and stretch into March. The troubled pop singer has said the series, entitled “This is It,” will be his last in the British capital. Promoters said the tickets sold out within hours of becoming available. Michael Jackson, who has sold more than 750 million albums and won 13 Grammys, hasn’t undertaken a a major tour since 1997 or released an album of new material since 2001.

The haul was far less than the earlier Dan Brown adaptation ” The Da Vinci Code” which earned $77.1 million when in opened in 2006 but still enough to topple the popular “Star Trek,” according to studio estimates Sunday. In its second weekend, Paramount Pictures’ “Star Trek” took in $43 million, a strong number after its $75.2 million opening last weekend, excluding its Thursday midnight screenings. The cumulative total for J.J. Abram’s reboot of the sci fi franchise is $147.6 million. Sony’s “Angels & Demons” reunites Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard for the sequel to “The Da Vinci Code.” It opened without the benefit of the buzz and controversy that propelled “The Da Vinci Code” to a $753 million worldwide total. Overseas business was again strong for “Angels & Demons,” which earned $104.3 million internationally. Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony, said the studio expects the film will eventually take in half a billion altogether in theatrical release.

Adam Lambert Wizard of Oz?

The 27 year old Adam Lambert, favorite to take the “Idol” crown next Wednesday had a professional musical theater background before he ever sang for Simon, Paula and the rest of the show’s judges. Lambert did two stints in “Wicked,” the mammoth musical prequel to “The Wizard of Oz“ joining the touring company in March 2005 and staying for six months, then opening in the extended Los Angeles production in February 2007 and remaining with the show until October 2008. For both engagements, he was a member of the ensemble and understudied the role of Fieryo, the show’s love interest. Says casting guru, Bernard Telsey, who auditioned Lambert for “Wicked”: “Adam Lambet was a theater guy. He came in and had that amazing voice or as I like to say ‘instrument’ because he has this incredible range. “I literally remember saying, ‘Oh my God, this guy has the highest range,’” said Telsey, who has cast such hit Broadway musicals as “Rent,” “Hairspray” and the current revival of “South Pacific.” “And you are always looking for ensemble people who have a huge vocal range and vocal power,” he said. “In an ensemble of only a handful of voices, you want that kind of a sound. It makes a show feel like there are 20 people in the ensemble as opposed to 10.” At the time, Adam Lambert didn’t look David Bowie esque, Telsey said. “He didn’t look like a rock star. He looked like a normal kid with long hair, wearing jeans and a T-shirt and who had a big rock voice.” What Lisa Leguillou remembers best about Lambert was his fearlessness. As the associate director of “Wicked” in charge of keeping the show true to director Joe Mantello”s original vision she said, “I always got a sense that Adam Lambert was clear about what he wanted to do. “He talked about his music a lot with me and what he wanted to do with it in the future. He was clear about that  doing his own stuff, which was rock. And now he’s doing it.” And Adam Lambert’s singing is effortless, according to Leguillou. “That’s what is so shocking. He just opens up his mouth. You never have to worry about him when he is on stage.”
