Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis

Oasis Concert - Noel Gallagher playing Champagne Supernova by Anirudh Koul.

The BBC is reporting the split as official on their Website, and that it was Noel Gallagher who indeed left. In a statement posted to the band’s MySpace page, Noel Gallagher says he could no longer work with his brother. “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” the statement reads. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam Gallagher a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz, and Milan,” he added, referring to the remaining stops on the band’s trek. According to reports, the crowd at first took the stage announcement as a joke, until screens at both sides of the stage showed the message “As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been canceled.” Ironically, Noel Gallagher walked out of an Oasis gig in Paris nine years ago, temporarily derailing a world tour in 2000. Last year, before the band launched a tour with Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher told RS, “I am f—–g brilliant every night I go out there.”

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham by goohio14.

Fox, which airs the popular singing show, said Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry would be guest judges in Abdul’s place. But it wasn’t immediately clear whether Beckham did any judging Friday, and “Idol” spokeswoman Alex Gillespie declined to say what her role was. Perry was nowhere to be seen. Judge Kara DioGuardi arrived in a limo wearing a black dress, telling local Fox affiliate KDVR that she was wearing black to mourn Paula Abdul’s absence. DioGuardi called Abdul her mentor, and said she hopes she’ll return to the show.  Paula Abdul announced this week she was leaving “Idol” after eight seasons. She would not discuss details about her “Idol” exit Thursday in a phone interview, nor would she address whether the door was still open for a return. Lilly Scott, a contestant at the Denver auditions, told KDVR TV in Denver that the show was “kind of lame” without Paula Abdul. “I was really excited, but three is still good,” she said.
